Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Hotel Lake Side Inn located?

We are on the Sissu valley floor in Lahaul & Spiti, Himachal Pradesh (PIN 175141), about a 2-minute walk from Sissu Lake and Sissu Waterfall, and roughly 12 km from the Atal Tunnel north portal. Coordinates: 32.479669, 77.122458.

How far is Sissu from Manali and how long does it take?

Sissu is about 38–40 km from Manali and takes roughly 1 to 1.5 hours by road via the Atal Tunnel. The tunnel keeps the route open through most of the year, so you avoid the old, seasonal Rohtang Pass road.

How do I reach the hotel from Manali?

Drive from Manali towards Solang, enter the Atal Tunnel south portal, exit at the north portal on the Lahaul side, and continue about 12 km to Sissu. We share a live location pin on WhatsApp (+91 82193 15303) and there is free parking at the hotel. See our how to reach Sissu guide for full details.

What is the best time to visit Sissu?

May to June offers pleasant weather and fully open roads, while December to February brings snow and a frozen waterfall. September–October is clear, golden and less crowded. See our month-by-month guide for details.

Is Sissu open in winter?

Yes, Sissu is generally accessible year-round because the Atal Tunnel stays open, though heavy snow can briefly close the road for clearing. There is also a winter tourism break of roughly 40 days (in recent years late January to end of February). Always confirm current status with us before a January–February trip — see is Sissu open right now.

How far is the hotel from Sissu Lake and Sissu Waterfall?

Both are about a 2-minute walk from the hotel. Sissu Lake is best in the early morning when the water is calm and reflects the snow peaks, and the waterfall (Palden Lhamo Dhar) is visible across the Chandra river.

How far is the hotel from the Atal Tunnel?

The hotel is about 12 km from the Atal Tunnel north portal, making Sissu the first convenient place to stay after you cross the tunnel from the Manali side. See hotels near the Atal Tunnel.

Do you serve food? Is it vegetarian?

Yes. We run a 100% pure-vegetarian in-house kitchen serving hot home-style Himachali, North-Indian and Chinese food, with room service available. See our restaurant page.

What amenities does the hotel offer?

Mountain-view rooms, 24×7 hot water, room heaters, free parking, a pure-veg restaurant, room service, Wi-Fi and power backup. We are a family-run hotel and are family and couple friendly.

Is the hotel good for families and couples?

Yes. We have family rooms and quiet mountain-view rooms suited to couples, plus a warm, family-run atmosphere and pure-veg dining that works well for all ages.

Is there parking at the hotel?

Yes, free on-site parking is available for guests, including for self-drive cars and SUVs.

Do I need a permit to visit Sissu?

Indian travellers do not need a special permit for Sissu — just carry a valid government photo ID. Rules can change, so check the latest Lahaul-Spiti tourist registration guidance before you travel, or message us and we will help.

What is the room tariff and how do I book?

Rates vary by season and room type. Book direct by phone or WhatsApp on +91 82193 15303 for our best available rate, or use the booking form on our website. See our rooms & tariff page.

Is one or two days enough for Sissu?
